NORTHRIDGE-- Long Beach State (8-8, 3-2 MPSF) scored three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to come away with a key Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win at CS Northridge, beating the Matadors 7-5 on Saturday afternoon.
Kelsie Emerick scored both her goals in the fourth period, as along with Dayna Wawrzynski's only goal, keyed a 3-0 run by LBSU to start the fourth period. The Matadors had tied it at 4-4 in the third period, after the 49ers led 4-3 at the half thanks to two goals from Lauren Sieprath.
Wawrzynski began the scoring in the fourth, before Emerick followed with two of her own to give the 49ers a 7-4 lead with three minutes to go.
Kristen Stragier had nine saves in goal for the 49ers, who host Arizona State on Sunday at noon at the campus pool.
