LAGUNA HILLS - Long Beach State water polo players Steve MacKenzie (Walnut Creek), Travis Buchanan (Manhattan Beach) and Jake Kinne (Newberg, Ore.) were each named honorable mention All-Americans by the Association of College Water Polo Coaches of America, the first national honors for all three players.
MacKenzie, a third team All-MPSF selection, led the MPSF in saves per game (9.82) and hit double digits in saves 15 times. He had 275 saves during his senior season, the third-best single season total in school history. That total ranked eighth nationally.
Kinne, a junior, finished third on the team with 39 goals and earned honorable mention All-MPSF honors. He had multiple goal games 12 times and scored in 23 of the team's 32 games.
Buchanan, also an honorable mention All-MPSF pick, scored 13 goals on the season as a senior and tallied game-wining goals twice, with five seconds left against UCSB in September and in November in the sixth overtime against LMU.
