Long Beach State men's water polo coach Gavin Arroyo announced that Jordan Koeppen (Murrieta, California/Murrieta Valley HS) has signed a National Letter-of-Intent with the 49ers. Jordan will join his older brother, Justin, on the 49er squad. Justin will be a redshirt junior this coming season, while Jordan will be a true freshman
A three-year varsity letterwinner at Murrieta Valley High School, Koeppen is a two-time High School All-American and was named the 2007 CIF Division V Co-Player of the Year. He helped lead Murrieta Valley to the 2006 CIF Championship and the team advanced to three consecutive CIF Championship finals (2005-07). This past season he was selected as the Southwestern Conference Water Polo Player of the Year. Koeppen also lettered four years in swimming, competing in the butterfly and 500 free.
"We welcome Jordan with open arms to the Long Beach program," said Arroyo. "He exemplifies the ideal student-athlete. He is a talented, hard-working individual with a strong academic record, who happens to be a nice guy. He comes from a great family and we expect to build this team around him in the future."
