Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State tennis has announced the signing of Anna Jeczmionka to a national letter of intent, the first for the 2009-10 recruiting class. Jeczmionka hails from Swarzedz, Poland, and is one of the top juniors in the country.
"Anna is a top-ranked junior from Poland with a number of championships courtesy of her strong baseline game and big serve," said LBSU head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "She also brings with her an impressive academic record that fits our international recruiting."
The No. 5 U18 junior in Poland, Jeczmionka has also been ranked as high as No. 477 in the ITF world junior rankings. She has reached five Polish national tournament singles finals, winning one championship. She has also won five doubles titles at the national level in Poland.
A strong student, Jeczmionka is the top student in her class and received an award from the Polish Prime Minister for her academic prowess.
"Recently, there have been a number of Polish players successfully playing collegiate tennis and Anna certainly fits in with that group," noted Hilt-Costello.
