Tennis Heads Across Town For Fullerton Invitational

Long Beach, Calif. - Tennis' fall season continues as the 49ers send five members east to play in the Fullerton Invitational this weekend from Friday, Oct. 10 through Sunday, Oct. 12. The day starts early as doubles action for the 49ers begins at 8:00 a.m.
Long Beach State is one of 11 teams participating in the Fullerton Invitational, along with a number of Big West foes, including UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge and host Cal State Fullerton.
The 49ers play starts at 8 a.m., when Rachel Manasse and Jessica Weeks take on Cal State Fullerton's Erin Wiesener and Leslie Bullock. The 49ers first singles match will begin at 9 a.m., when Julie Luzar plays UC Riverside's Angelique Corpuz in flight B.
Deborah Armstrong also has an early match Friday, facing Erin Oki of UC Riverside in the opening round of the flight A draw at 11 a.m. The rest of the team is seeded, and will have byes through the early morning action. Jessica Weeks is the top seed in singles of flight B, and will play at Noon, while Rachel Manasse and Stephanie Jeanes both have byes in the opening round of flight A.
In doubles, Armstrong and Luzar will finish off the scheduled portion of the day, playing a quarterfinal match in flight A of doubles play at 4 p.m.
The tournament will continue through Sunday.
