Bengson Continues Hot Streak

PROVIDENCE, RI-- The 49er women’s tennis team picked up a 5-2 win
on Tuesday afternoon over Brown University, The 49ers improve to 11-8
with the victory while the Bears fall to 5-9.
Long Beach began the match on a high note, winning all three doubles matches.
At #1 doubles, Stephanie Bengson and Katy Williams won 8-5 over Michelle
Pautler and Sara Mansur. At #2 doubles, Hannah Grady and Jessica Weeks
prevailed 8-2 over Emily Ellis and Kelley Kirkpatrick while at #3 doubles
Sandrra Rocha and Rachael Porsz won 8-4 over Brett Finkelstein and Kathrin
Sorokko.
In singles action, the 49ers depth proved to be the key to victory. Long
Beach won singles matches at spots three through six to pick up the win.
Bengson continued her hot play by winning her tenth consecutive singles
match as she won 7-5, 6-0 at #3 singles over Alexa Baggio. Weeks won 6-3,
6-1 over Ellis at #4 singles, Rocha won 6-4, 6-3 at the #5 spot over Tania
Vucetic and Porsz won at six singles 6-4, 7-5 over Sorokko. The Bears
won at the top of the line-up winning at #1 and #2 singles. At the #1
spot, Pautler defeated #119-ranked Grady 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The 49ers will continue their East Coast swing with a match at Boston
College on Wednesday.
