49ers Fall at No. 3-ranked USC
LOS ANGELES, CA-- No. 3-ranked USC (14-3, 7-1 MPSF) won its 36th-straight game at its home pool, easily defeating visiting Long Beach State (6-12, 2-5 MPSF) 16-3 in a conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. Dayna Wawrzynski had two goals in the loss, while Alexandra Kiss and Michelle Stein each had three goals for the Women of Troy. The match also completed a busy week for the 49ers, who played four times in six days. The 49ers, who have lost seven straight, will benefit next week from the return of two starters, Marina and Cecilia Canetti, who for the past six LBSU games have been playing for the Brazilian National Team at the World Championships in Melbourne, Australia. Also returning is assistant coach Heather Petri, who won a gold medal playing for the Americans. The 49ers are next in action on April 4 when they travel to UC Santa Barbara for an MPSF matchup, before hosting San Jose State (Friday) and Stanford (Saturday) on Easter weekend.
