49ers Pick Up 4-3 Win over Iowa
Beach Win Double Point and Then Split Singles Matches

LONG BEACH, CA--No. 58-ranked Long Beach State (8-6) played their ninth match overall against a ranked opponent, defeating No. 52-ranked Iowa (5-5) 4-3 on the campus courts on Thursday. After sweeping the doubles points with identical 8-5 scores, the 49ers used wins from No. 3 Stephanie Bengson, No. 5 Sandra Rocha and No. 6 Rachael Porsz in straight sets to come away with the one-point victory.

LBSU is in the midst of a six-match home stand, of which five are against ranked opponents. The 49ers are 3-6 this season against ranked opponents, losing four of those decisions by a single point, as this was the first time this year LBSU picked up a 4-3 decision, after losing 4-3 to ranked foes, UNLV, Florida International, UC Irvine and Virginia Commonwealth.
