Beach Wins Seventh Straight

49ers Post Seventh Straight Win, Sweep Denver EUGENE, OR-- No. 46-ranked Long Beach State (7-2) made it 2-for-2 in the Pacific Northwest, sweeping past No. 54-ranked Denver (3-5) 7-0 on the campus of the University of Oregon on Saturday. "Our team came up here read to battle," said Head Coach Jenny Hilt-Costello, who beat No. 22-ranked Oregon yesterday. "We posted two strong wins against some ranked opponents." The team's seventh straight win of the season was led by Hannah Grady who combined with partner Jessica Weeks for an 8-2 win at the No. 2 doubles position, before she posted a 6-1, 6-3 upset over No. 59-ranked Suzana Maksovic at the top of the order. No. 91-ranked Katy Williams was a winner at the No. 2 singles position winning in straight sets over Annette Aksdal. LBSU swept all six singles spots and won two of three doubles matches. The 49ers close out the road trip at the University of Portland on Sunday. DOUBLES SINGLES |
