49ers Doubles Teams Eliminated at ITA Regional Championships
49ers Next In Action In Early November

SAN DIEGO, CA-- Both Long Beach State doubles teams were
eliminated in the main draw at the Wilson/ITA West Region Championships
in San Diego.Action is taking place throughout the weekend at the Barnes
Tennis Complex and the event is being hosted by San Diego State and the
University of San Diego.
In doubles, the 49ers Rachael Porsz and Denise Liebschner fell to Charlotte
Scatliffe and Marta Simic of UCSB, 8-3. The 49er duo of Katy Williams
and Stephanie Bengson fell to the number five seeded team of Judy DeVera
and Amanda Fink of USC, 8-5. DeVera and Fink are ranked No. 57 in the
country.
In back draw singles action, number seven seed Hannah Grady of Long Beach
defeated Becky Bernhard of UC Irvine, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. BGrady is ranked
No. 38 in the country in singles, while Bernhard is ranked No. 97 nationally.
Rachael Porsz defeated Kanykey Koichumanova of CS Northridge, 5-3 retired.
Stephanie Bengson won a back draw match as she defeated UC Irvine's Inga
Agababian 6-4, 6-4. Katy Williams, ranked No. 85 nationally, fell in her
back draw match 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 to UCLA's Elizabeth Lumpkin.
The 49ers are next in action November 3-5 when they compete at the San
Diego Fall Classic.
