LOS ANGELES, CA-- Kevin Bradley and Nick Korsgaden each tallied two goals
to lift No. 14 Long Beach State (5-9) to an 8-7 win over the Air Force
Academy (8-11) at the SoCal Tournament at USC. The 49ers earned a split
on the day after dropping their morning contest to Loyola Marymount 11-10.
In the nightcap, the 49ers trailed 4-3 at the half, but took control of
the game with a big third quarter. Long Beach tallied four goals and limited
the Falcons to one to take a 7-5 lead. Goalie Steve MacKenzie recorded
eight goalie saves to secure the victory. Jay Gerardi, Travis Buchanan,
Clint Wilson and Jeff Greenwood also scored for the 49ers. Danny Kimmich
led the Falcons with three goals.
In its opening game of the day, Greenwood tallied four goals, but the
49er fell just short, falling to No. 6-ranked Loyola Marymount (11-7).
Wilson and Buchanan each tallied two goals for the 49ers in the defeat.
MacKenzie had six goalie saves. Cutberto Hernandez led the Lions with
three goals while Mark Milovich and Matt Reynolds each scored twice.
The 49ers will next be in action on Saturday, October 21 when they host
the University of the Pacific at 12 pm at the 49er Campus Pool.
