49ers Ranked No. 57 In Pre-Season Poll
FILA/ITA Women's Collegiate Pre-Season Rankings
January 11, 2006 LONG BEACH, CA-- The Long Beach State women's tennis team is ranked No. 57 in the country in the pre-season FILA/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. The 49ers, who have won back-to-back Big West Conference championships, have been nationally-ranked the past five years.
This year the 49ers will face their most ambitious schedule as they tangle with 12 opponents who are ranked in the pre-season poll. The 49ers kick off their season on Friday, January 20 when they play at No. 5-ranked USC at 1:30 pm.
The home schedule is highlighted by matches at the 49er Tennis Courts against No. 30 Florida International (April 6), No. 47 San Diego State (Feb. 2), No. 63 Pacific (Mar. 4), No. 67 Kansas State (Mar. 20), No. 68 UC Irvine (Mar. 2) and No. 75 Boston College (Mar. 7).
