SANTA CRUZ, CA-- The Long Beach State offense got back on track Saturday and Head Coach Ricardo Azevedo picked up his 100th win at Long Beach State as the 49ers won both games on Saturday at the UC Santa Cruz Slugfest. In the opener the eighth-ranked 49ers defeated Air Force, 11-3, earning Azevedo win number 100. In the afternoon he hit 101 with a 14-9 win over UC Davis. The 49ers are now 11-3 on the season.

Long Beach took control of the morning game early, jumping to a 4-0 lead after one quarter. Air Force (2-2) was able to get its offense going in the second quarter, scoring all three of its goals, but the 49ers also tallied three goals to take a 7-3 halftime lead. In the second half the 49er defense shutout the Falcons, out-scoring Air Force 4-0. Reid Tomassi had a season-high four goals for the 49ers in the rout. Kevin Bradley tallied two goals, while Matt Shafer, Jay Gerardi, Erik Geoffroy, Brett McCleave and Jason Cloud all tallied one. 49er starting goalie Thomas Onyshko had nine goalie saves and freshman Derek Wiebe-Bailey played the fourth quarter, finishing with three saves.

In the afternoon contest against the Aggies (4-7), the 49ers scored early and often. LBSU led 5-1 after one quarter and 9-4 at the half. Brad Scoles and Geoffroy both had four goals in the win, while Tomassi added three. Onyshko recorded nine more goalie saves and Wiebe-Bailey once again played the fourth quarter, racking up three saves.

Azevedo, in his seventh year as the head man at LBSU, improved to 101-81 with the two victories on Saturday.

The 49ers continue play Sunday taking on Pomona-Pitzer at 10:10 am and No. 5-ranked UC San Diego at 2:30 pm.
