Hawkins Named MPSF Player of the Week WOODLAND, CA-- Long Beach State goalie Bri Hawkins (San Diego) was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week after tallying 32 saves last week for the No. 3-ranked 49ers. Hawkins, the school's all-time leading saves leader, produced back-to-back 13 save performances in wins over Pacific and California, giving her 149 blocks this season. Hawkins and the 49ers defense allowed just one goal in the second half in the win over Cal, as Hawkins, on average, has allowed just five goals a game this season. For Hawkins this is her second career weekly honor, as she was last honored in 2003. This is the third award for The Beach this season. The 49ers, at 15-3 and a perfect 7-0 mark in MPSF play, are next in action when they travel to Hawaii on Friday, March 25 at 2:30 p.m. PST. |
