49ers Crush Indiana 15-6 TEMPE, AZ-- A No. 3 ranking in the national polls this week revved up the engines for Long Beach State (11-3) as ten different 49ers, fresh off a six-hour bus ride to Arizona State, scored goals in a 15-6 rout of No. 9-ranked Indiana on Saturday afternoon. Cassie Azevedo (Long Beach/Wilson HS), Alison Braden (Calgary), Marina Canetti (Rio de Janeiro), Drue Wawrzynski (Los Alamitos) and Christina Wensman (Silverdale, WA) each scored two goals a piece as The Beach improved to 11-3. The 49ers sprinted out to a 5-0 lead and upped it to 7-1 before the break. Four more goals in the third made put the score 11-2. Kara Woolley led the Hoosiers with two goals of her own. The 49ers take on Arizona State in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation showdown on Sunday at noon. |
