Williams Moves To Singles Final At SDSU Williams And Rocha Play In Consolation Championship In Doubles November 5, 2005 SAN DIEGO, CA-- Freshman Katy Williams moved to the singles championship in the top bracket on Saturday at the San Diego State Fall Tennis Classic. Williams defeated No. 102 Kelly Anderson of Georgia Tech, 6-4, 6-2. Williams will face No. 77 Blair DiSesa of Rice for the championship on Sunday morning.
In consolation doubles, the 49er duo of Williams and Sandra Rocha defeated Lucy Scott and Ola Abou-Zekry of the University of New Mexico 8-4 and will face Sisse Nielsen and Dita Hauerlandova of San Diego State in the consolation doubles final at 8 am on Sunday. Falling in consolation doubles were Jessica Weeks and Krystina Katayama, who fell 8-3 to Georgia Tech's Kacie Anson and Christy Striplin. Rachel Porsz and Emmanuelle Tabatruong also lost, falling 8-6 to San Diego's Vogt and Reitz.
In other singles play in consolation rounds, Rocha and Katayama were winners, while Porsz, Weeks and Tabatruong lost. Rocha defeated Christine Dao of Rice, 7-5, 6-4 and Katayama came away with a three-set win over New Mexico's Allison Davis, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Action concludes on Sunday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
