Day Two Results at CS Fullerton Intercollegiates
Katy Williams Advances To Singles Semifinals

FULLERTON, CA-- Freshman Katy Williams won two matches on Saturday, advancing to the semi-final round of the singles main draw at the 2005 CS Fullerton Fall Intercollegiates. Williams then teamed with junior Sandra Rocha to win two doubles matches to also advance to the doubles semi-finals. Williams is the number three seed in the singles bracket, while Williams and Rocha are the number one seed.
Williams had a tough third round singles match on Saturday morning as she had to face fellow doubles partner Rocha. Williams came away with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. She then defeated the number six seed, Merve Asimgil of Pepperdine, 6-1, 6-4. Williams will face off against the number one seed in the tournament on Sunday morning, UCSB's Marielle Grueinig. Freshman Jessica Weeks was also competing in the main draw in singles, but fell to the number four seed, Pavla Mesterova of LMU, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles play, Williams and Rocha won their second round match 8-1 over LMU's Russell and Fermin. The duo then defeated Fermin/Kaloi of UC Irvine, 8-4 to advance to the semi-finals.
In the singles back draw, junior Rachael Porsz had a big day winning three matches to move to the semi-finals of the back draw. Porsz began the day with an 8-2 win over Heidi Kaloi (UCI) and then defeated Sonya Kuman (CS Northridge) 8-3 and Charlotte Scatliffe (UCSB), 8-2. Krystina Katayama and Emmanuelle Tabatruong won their first matches before falling in the Round of 16.
In the doubles back draw, Weeks and Porsz won two matches to advance to the semi-finals, where they will take on fellow 49ers Tabatruong and Katayama. Tabatruong and Katayama had a first round bye and then defeated Dunlap and Poladian of Pepperdine, 8-5. Weeks and Porsz defeated Damion and Fukushima of UCSB 8-6 and then drew a default against USC's Everly/Snyder.
The tournament concludes on Sunday.
