LBSU Coaching Staff Garners NFCA Honor Manarino and Co. Named West Region Coaching Staff of the Year
July 12, 2004 STARKVILLE, MS -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) tabbed the Long Beach State softball coaching staff as the 2004 West Region Staff of the Year, as announced on Monday.
Guided by head coach Pete Manarino, and assistant coaches, Kim Sowder, Stephanie Swenson, and Ralph Levy, the 49ers compiled their best record in school history last season with a 51-13 mark and an appearance in the 2004 NCAA Regionals. Long Beach State captured its fourth Big West Conference title in program history with an 18-3 record, while Manarino garnered Big West Coach of the Year honors for the fifth time in his career as well. Long Beach State finished the 2004 campaign ranked No. 17 in the ESPN/USA Today Top-25 Poll, and No. 19 in the NFCA Top-25 poll.
Pete Manarino enters next season looking to reach another milestone: win No. 800. Manarino currently has 774 career wins at The Beach.
