49ers Announce Signee

LONG BEACH, CA -- Long Beach State head women's tennis coach Jenny Hilt-Costello announced today the signing of Nicoletta Ratiu to a National Letter-Of-Intent to attend Long Beach State in the fall.

Ratiu, who has a reputation as a big hitter, will be an incoming freshman in the fall for the 49ers and hails from Bistrita, Romania. Ratiu has an ITF World Junior doubles ranking of #167 and a singles ranking of #252.

Ratiu joins a 49er squad which will return five of six starters in 2005. The 49ers are currently 18-8 on the season, won the Big West Conference Championship and will be competing in the NCAA Regionals later this month. The 49ers find out whom they play in NCAA Regional competition on Wednesday, May 5 at approximately 1:30 pm.
