Beach Take Two on First Day GOLETA, CA-- Playing without All-American Roberta Stewart, the No. 4-ranked Long Beach State 49ers (8-1) won its first two games at the UC Santa Barbara Tournament, defeating UC Irvine 6-1, before defeating San Diego State 5-1. An error by UCSB's Sports Information Office previously had the 49ers losing to San Diego State. Stewart, the team's leading scorer over the past two seasons, missed the team's win over Michigan on Thursday and this weekend's tournament with pneumonia. In the team's first game, LBSU jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead over the Anteaters and never looked back, as Jessica Levin led the 49ers with two goals. In the team's contest with the Aztecs, LBSU scored four unanswered goals after a 1-1 first period tie to win Pool D and advance to the winner's bracket on Sunday. Drue Wawrzynski tallied three goals for The Beach, while Alison Braden and Angelica Garcia added two goals a piece.
