Chan/Rocha Doubles Team Advance To Quarterfinals

SAN DIEGO, CA-- The Long Beach State doubles tandem of Kelly Chan and Sandra Rocha won their lone match on Saturday at the ITA Women's Western Regional Championships in San Diego to advance to Sunday's quarterfinals. Chan/Rocha came up with an 8-3 win over Matjevic/Krasinika (CS Northridge). The pair will play at 1 pm on Sunday against Arizona's Mlakar/Hollands, the tournament's #4 seeded doubles team.

In the singles back draw, Tammy Day won her opening match, defeating Kate Jolson of UCLA, 6-2, 6-0. Day then fell in the next round, 6-3, 4-6, 2-6 to UNLV's Cindy Treber. Lindsey Marvel lost to Murielle Gruenig (UCSB) 6-3, 6-7, 3-6 in the singles back draw, as did teammate Claudia Argumedo, who lost to Anna Bentzer of UC Irvine, 6-0, 6-0.
