49ers Fall To National Team Wolf Wigo Scores Seven Goals For USA
October 15, 2003 LONG BEACH, CA-- The U.S. Men's National Team defeated Long Beach State 20-3 in an exhibition game on Wednesday afternoon at the 49er Campus Pool. Wolf Wigo led the USA squad with seven goals, while Long Beach-native Ryan Bailey added five.
The U.S. team raced to a 7-0 lead before the 49ers got on the scoreboard. Freshman John Foster (Long Beach) scored the 49ers first goal at the 4:20 mark in the second quarter. Nathan Allard (La Habra) scored the second goal at 5:40 in the third and Erik Geoffroy (Rossmoor) tallied the 49ers final goal at 0:26 in the third.
In goal, Thomas Onyshko had two saves, while Michail Konstas who played the second half, finished with six saves. Team USA used all three of its goalies, Brandon Brooks, Genai Kerr and Merrill Moses.
LBSU graduate Chris Segesman started for the National Team and scored one goal.
The 49ers begin Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) play this weekend when they play at UC Irvine at 12 pm on Sunday, October 19.
