Freshman's Goal Ends After Third Sudden Death Period SAN DIEGO, CA-- Roberta Stewart's goal with 35 seconds left in the third sudden death period, lifted the No. 8-ranked 49ers (7-7) to a 10-9 victory over No. 12-ranked UC San Diego (9-6), in the longest game in LBSU school-history. Both teams were tied 7-7 after four periods of play and then, each tallied on in each of the two overtime periods to make it 9-9. After two scoreless sudden death periods, Stewart scored with 35 seconds left in the third sudden death period, a span of 42 minutes and 25 seconds after the start of the game, after four regulation periods of seven minutes a piece and and nearly five periods of three minutes. Stewart led The Beach with a three goals, while Ashley Richardson and Stacy Black tallied two goals a piece. Also finding the back of the net were Angelica Garcia, Robyn Gordin and Sam Junod. For UCSD, Courtney Hemmerly had four goals, followed by Meris Bantilan-Smith and Emma Kudritzki's two goals and Danielle Boye's one goal.
