\Jake Dawson enters his first year at Long Beach State as volunteer assistant coach.
Dawson was a two-year letterwinner for the 49ers, earning All-Big West Conference honors in track & field. During his career at LBSU, Dawson ran a personal best of 14:29.18 in the 5,000-meter race at the Mt. Sac Relays, place 10th at the Big West Outdoor Track & Field Championships 5K and finished fifth in 10K. Dawson established a personal best of 8:25.77 in the 3K at MPSF Indoor Championships and ran a personal best in the 8K with a time of 24:30 at the 2011 Big West Cross Country Championships.
Before coming to LBSU, Dawson ran at Orange Coast College in Cypress where he earned Orange Empire Conference title in the 5K and 10K. He also posted fifth place finish in the 10K at the SoCal Championships and placed sixth in the 5K. Dawson finished in sixth in the state championship 10K event while at OCC.
