Andy Ponce de Leon

Andy Ponce de Leon enters his third season on staff with the distance program. As first an administrative assistant and then as a volunteer assistant over the last two years, Ponce de Leon was influential in LBSU having its best two combined finishes in school history. Ponce de Leon’s main duties are to recruit and assist in the management and development of the distance runners.
From 2003-2005 as a student-athlete, Andy was a member of the Long Beach State track and cross country teams. During this time he improved his steeplechase time by over a minute and was the 2005 Cal Nevada State Champion in the steeplechase. He would also receive the cross country team’s "Most Improved Award", and the Bob Sythe Memorial Scholarship award for leadership, academic and athletic achievement.
While at Mt. SAC, Andy competed for the Mounties’ track and cross country teams from 2000-2002. During this time, he was a member of the track team that won its record breaking, seventh straight state championship in a row.
A Rancho Cucamonga native, Ponce de Leon earned his degree in Kinesiology from LBSU in 2005 and is currently finishing his teaching credential at The Beach.
