Long Beach State was -18 as a team to increase their lead to 28 strokes in the Big West Championship.
LA QUINTA, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf had all five players shoot par or better, with four under par on the way to a -18 second round at the Big West Championship in a dominant second day.
Day Two Results
Graduate Steen Zeman continued to lead the tournament, following up his first round 67 with a 66 on day two to move to -11 for the tournament, three strokes in front of a pair in second place.
That duo included senior Jaden Huggins, who had the day's best score for the Beach with a seven-under 65, picking up seven birdies without a bogey on Monday. Jack Cantlay remained in the Top 5 with a second straight 69, and Krishnav Chopraa climbed into the Top 10 with a two-under par 70 as all four counting scores for the Beach in Round Two were under par. Alejandro de Castro Piera had the day's drop score, an even par 72 to highlight how strong the day was.
All five golfers for Long Beach State are now in the top ten as the Beach has a commanding lead in the championship, leading by 28 strokes over Cal Poly and Hawai'i, tied for second place at -2.
Long Beach State's -18 was the program's second-best ever mark against par as a team, besting a -15 shot at the John A Burns Intercollegiate in 2024.
Long Beach State is well within reach of a fourth consecutive Big West Championship and returning once again to the NCAAs. The final round begins Tuesday morning, with live scoring through SCOREBOARD at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/240005/scoring/team.
