Beach Breaks 4x100 School Record While Splitting Competition Across Two Meets

Beach men's relay team breaks school record at Desert Heat Classic.
IRVINE, Calif. / TUCSON, Ariz. -- Long Beach State closed out a split weekend of competition Saturday at the Steve Scott Invitational and Desert Heat Classic, highlighted by a school-record performance in the men's 4x100-meter relay.
Competing at the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, the quartet of Dre Johnson, Tristyn Flores, Vincent Jones and Trey Sheron placed third in the men's 4x100 relay with a program-record and Big West-record time of 38.93.
Flores added another standout performance in the men's 200 meters, placing sixth in 20.67 to move into third place in program history. Jones posted a personal-best time of 46.62 in the men's 400 meters, while Sheron finished 12th in the men's 100 meters in 10.37 and Johnson ran 10.57.
In the women's sprints, Trinity Barnett placed seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 11.46, tying the third-best mark in program history. Barnett also placed eighth in the 200 meters in 23.41.
Zamaria Mack recorded a personal-best time of 13.81 to place 12th in the women's 100-meter hurdles and later ran 1:00.93 in the 400-meter hurdles. Milani Bell added a time of 57.11 in the women's 400 meters.
In the field events, Steven Evans-Glynn led the men with a third-place finish in the long jump at 7.58m (24 feet, 10 ½ inches), while Miguel Orozco recorded a mark of 6.92m (22-8 ½).
Eman Goodloe and Tyler Knowles finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the hammer throw with marks of 62.62m and 61.98m. Matthew Bender threw 60.72m in the javelin, while VJ Vanderlipe cleared 5.20m (17-¾) in the pole vault to place sixth. Knowles also added a mark of 41.91m (137-6) in the discus.
On the women's side, Giszelle Hrehor placed fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 57.84m (189-9), while Amanda Javellana finished sixth with a throw of 55.88m (183-4). Mai Ricks recorded a mark of 14.32m (46-11 ¾) in the shot put, while Jonelle Scott cleared 4.01m in the pole vault.
At the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Ndiah Hall ran 15.19 in the women's 100-meter hurdles, while Bree Hollins placed sixth in the women's 400 meters with a time of 56.03. Davis posted a time of 57.95 in the same event.
In the women's 200 meters, Davis placed 12th in 24.61, while Daryana Hall ran 25.24 and Hollins finished in 25.67. Hall also competed in the women's 100 meters, posting a time of 12.30.
Grace Stoddart led the Beach in the pole vault with a third-place finish after clearing 3.71m (12-2), while Sophie Garrou placed 10th at 3.41m (11-2 ¼).
In the throws, Sammy Chang placed 13th in the discus with a mark of 45.77m (150-2), while Abigail Gavrilovic recorded a throw of 40.11m (131-7).
Amelia Gray and Madeline Scovil placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the triple jump with marks of 11.63m (38-2) and 11.49m (37-8 ½).
For the men, Cameron Simmons placed ninth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.74. Gregory finished 11th in the 100 meters in 10.71, while Orona ran 11.43.
In the discus, Diego Herrera-Vendrell posted a mark of 43.09m (141-4), while Orona threw 36.84m (120-10) and Gregory recorded a mark of 36.21m (118-9).
Tola Spencer and Quinten Flowers finished eighth and ninth in the triple jump with marks of 14.18m (46-6 ¼) and 14.17m (46-6).
