Alejandro de Castro Piera Repeats As Big West Golfer Of The Month

de Castro was the runner-up at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate, continuing a streak of Top 10 finishes.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Alejandro de Castro Piera was named the Big West Golfer of the Month for April, the second straight monthly award for the senior who is continuing a phenomenal spring of competition.

With Long Beach State only playing in one tournament in April, de Castro tied for second place at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate, finishing -11 including a second round 64 with a stroke average for the month of 67.33.

Over five tournaments this spring, de Castro has finished no lower than seventh, with two second-place finishes along with an individual championship at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. The senior has risen to No. 27 in the individual rankings, while the team remains in the Top 30 at No. 28 overall.

Long Beach State begins the postseason at the Big West Championship, returning once again to La Quinta Country Club over three days starting on May 3. The Beach is looking to win a fourth straight conference championship.
