Record-Setting First Day Sees Men’s Golf In Lead At Mark Simpson Invitational

BOULDER, Colo. – Long Beach State placed two golfers in the top three places after two rounds as Men's Golf holds the lead after the first day of competition at the Mark Simpson Invitational.
Day One Results
Norwin Gohm had a first round 64 and Jaden Huggins shot a 65 in the second round to help propel the duo to second and third place on the leaderboard at the Par 70 Boulder Country Club. Sophomore Emil Albers and Krishnav Chopraa also both finished the day under par, Albers -3 with a first round 67 and an even par 70, and Chopraa at -1 with a 70 followed by a 69.
Bruce MacDonald had the team's fourth scoring round in the first round, also shooting 67 to propel the Beach to a -15 first round on the day to a -22 score at the end of the first day, leading Arkansas State by three strokes. Colorado sits in third after the end of the first day as the top three teams from last season's same event are ready to battle it out again. Henry Styles of Arkansas State leads the individual leaderboard, with Huggins in second place and Gohm in third.
Long Beach State's stroke total of 265 in the first round was the lowest in program history, and was tied for the fourth-best score vs. par in program history.
