Men’s Golf Finishes As Runners Up At Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational

The Beach finished -22 as a team, but were edged in a battle with Arkansas State for the top spot in the 17-team field.
BOULDER, Colo. – Long Beach State Men's Golf finished the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational 22-under par as a team, shooting a final total of 818 for the program's second-lowest tournament score ever, but finished just behind Arkansas State as the Red Wolves pulled away in the final holes on Wednesday.
Final Results
After Tuesday's program-record 265 in the first round of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, Long Beach State continued to put up low scores in a great team battle at the top of the leaderboard.
Senior Jaden Huggins claimed his sixth career Top 5 finish, closing out the tournament with a 71 to finish -7 overall. Norwin Gohm finished off a strong September that included a first round 64 from Boulder in a tie for sixth place, one stroke behind Huggins at -6.
Senior Krishnav Chopraa had the best day for the team on Wednesday, closing the tournament with a final round 68 to end -3 and just outside the Top 10 in a tie for 11th, and freshman Bruce MacDonald closed the tournament strong with an even-par 70.
Henry Styles and Jake Wallis of Arkansas State went one-two at the top of the individual leaderboard to help the Red Wolves edge the Beach at the top of the team leaderboard. Long Beach State, Colorado, San Diego and Denver rounded out the Top 5 as the Beach had their best finish of the fall from Colorado.
Long Beach State will have a short break before finishing their fall schedule at the Saint Mary's Invitational, hosted at Bayonet Golf Course on October 19-21.
