This year’s tournament will be held at the Royal Ka’anapali Course in Lahaina.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Golf will take on the rest of the Big West as the season comes to a climax at the Big West Championship. This season, the tournament will take place over three days from April 19 to 21 at the Royal Ka'anapali Course in Lahaina on Maui.
With nine teams in this year's field, Long Beach State will look to challenge pre-tournament favorites Cal State Fullerton, who enter the tournament as the top-ranked team in the conference at No. 41. Long Beach State are one of six teams in the Top 100, highlighting the strength of the league as a whole.
Junior Alyson Sor will lead the lineup for the Beach. Sor has had an excellent spring, leading Long Beach State in two of the team's five tournaments entering the championship, including a tie for 14th at the Alice and John Wallace Classic and a strong showing at the GameAbove Invitational.
Senior Madison Le will play second for Long Beach State. The team's leader in stroke average this season, the veteran is peaking at the right time after a Top 15 finish at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, the last tournament for the Beach. Le shot a second-round 68, a four-under par score that was her best of the season.
Freshman Kailey Yoon has also come on strong. Yoon shot three rounds of par or better at the MountainView Collegiate, finishing with a career-best finish in the Top 10 with a score of -5. Yoon also trailed just Le among the LBSU team at last week's Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.
Junior Emma Kang will play fourth for the Beach. Kang was the top finisher for the Beach in each of the team's first two tournaments this season, and has the year's lowest round for LBSU, a 66 shot at the Golf Iconic Classic hosted by New Mexico State.
Junior Erin Lee will play fifth for Long Beach State, but Lee had an outstanding tournament last season at the Big West Championship, finishing one of the best tournaments of her career in a tie for third place prior to earning Honorable Mention All-Big West honors.
