No. 11 Beach Volleyball Opens Home Tournament With Wins Over UAB, No. 14 Stetson

Beach will have a rematch against No. 9 LMU on Saturday afternoon.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Hosting for the first time in 2026, Beach Volleyball picked up a pair of wins against Southern opponents, winning 4-1 over UAB and 3-2 against No. 14 Stetson.
Against the Hatters, the Beach clinched the dual win after two hard fought battles from Tineke Hinton and Demi Wadgy sent both sets over 21 (22-20, 28-26) and Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah continued their strong start to the year with a 22-20, 21-15, win over EJ Cudmore and Julia Radelczuk. Moving up a flight, Victoria Henkel and Mahala Esser also had a crucial win against Stetson, winning in the fourth flight 21-16, 21-19.
In the first match of the day against UAB (6-5), Long Beach State (7-2) won the dual 4-1 with key performances from Gementera and Hagenah in the top flight and Kiara Edwards and Savannah Standage clinching the dual in the third flight.
Tournament play continues tomorrow with six more matches of action starting at 8:30. In their action, the Beach will play No. 9 LMU (6-4) at 12:15 p.m. and Santa Clara (6-2) at 2:45 p.m. to close the Long Beach State Invitational at the Long Beach City College KLAC Beach Volleyball Complex.
