Beach Volleyball Splits On Final Day Of The Long Beach State Invitational

Demi Wagdy and Tineke Hinton went undefeated in four matches.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 11 Long Beach State split on the final day of the Long Beach State Invitational, falling to No. 9 Loyola Marymount, 4-1 and cruising to a 5-0 victory over Santa Clara.
Against the Lions, the Beach took the lead after winning the second flight comfortably with Demi Wagdy and Tineke Hinton, 21-12/21-11. LMU (9-4) rallied back as Long Beach State (7-3) took two flights to three sets, with Malia Gementera/Taylor Hagenah and Victoria Henkel/Mahala Esser ultimately both losing in three.
Long Beach State bounced back to take down Santa Clara (8-4) in the final match of the tournament. The Beach controlled the action, and playing together for the first time on the weekend, Sammy Okano and Nicole Lankton finished off the sweep with a 21-19, 22-20 win over Kawena Chillingworth and Ava Stoddard.
The Beach will head next to Northern California playing in a tournament hosted by Stanford on March 13 and 14.
