The pair finish their careers as the only three-time All-Americans in program history.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Seniors Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah were selected as First Team All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, earning the honor for the third time in their careers.
Hagenah and Gementera again led from the front for Long Beach State. The duo has played together throughout their entire four-year careers as the Beach and did so again in 2026, recording a team-best 24 wins this season. Their efforts helped lead Long Beach State to a Top 10 ranking throughout the year and a fourth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance as an at-large selection.
The seniors were already two of just six players to be named AVCA All-America in program history, and now stand alone as the only three-time selections, having previously earned First Team All-America in 2024 and 2025.
The duo enter the NCAA Championships with a program record 119 wins, and have done so while playing primarily in the top flight over four seasons, recording an overall winning percentage that ranks in the Top 5 in program history. The pair are four-team First Team All-Big West selections as well.
Gementera and Hagenah and have carried on a legacy that has seen Long Beach State reach four straight NCAA tournaments in their four seasons, win the program's first two Big West Championships, and help the team maintain a standard of ranking among the nation's elite programs.
Long Beach State opens the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon, facing California at 10 a.m. PT on ESPN2 from Gulf Shores, Alabama.
