JaQuoia Jones-Brown Named Big West Player of the Week

Sophomore guard posts back-to-back 25-point games to lead Beach to 2-0 week
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Sophomore guard JaQuoia Jones-Brown has been named Big West Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading Long Beach State to a 2-0 week in league play with dominant performances against Cal Poly and CSU Bakersfield.
Jones-Brown averaged 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per game while playing a team-high 39.1 minutes per contest. She shot 50.0 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the free throw line, totaling 53 points across the two victories.
She opened the week with a game-high 28 points in a 67-57 win over Cal Poly, shooting 10-19 from the floor, 1-2 from three-point range, and a perfect 7-7 at the line. Jones-Brown added six rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes, accounting for over 40 percent of the team's scoring output.
In a 72-62 overtime victory over CSU Bakersfield, she followed with 25 points on 9-19 shooting and went 7-9 from the free throw line. She also contributed five rebounds and two steals while logging 38 minutes. Her ability to consistently get downhill and convert at the stripe proved decisive in overtime.
