All seven Big West teams will play a round-robin in Long Beach March 20-22.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – All seven teams from the Big West will once again take part in the Big West Challenge, this year hosted by Long Beach State at Rosie's Dog Beach.
The Big West Challenge has been the league's traditional answer to conference play, bringing in all teams to one location and having each team in the Big West play each other one time prior to the season-ending conference tournament.
No. 11 Long Beach State will play host to the tournament once again, which will kick off with three matches on Friday, March 20. The weekend begins with a neutral match between No. 13 Hawai'i and Sacramento State at 10 a.m. The Beach will then face Sacramento State at 11:15, and the day will close with one of the featured matchups as LBSU and the Rainbow Wahine will play for the first time in 2026.
Two full days of action will follow, with 9 matches each day to wrap up the 21 total matches of the competition. For Long Beach State, the Beach will play CSUN to begin the day Saturday at 8 a.m. before facing UC Davis at 11:30 a.m., and then on Sunday will host No. 3 Cal Poly at 11:30 a.m. before wrapping up Sunday's action at 5:20 p.m. against Cal State Bakersfield.
Long Beach State has been excellent at the top of the lineup. Seniors Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah have set the standard for four years, passing 100 career wins and extending their school record each time they win. This year, the two-time All-Americans are 11-3 at the top of the lineup. The Beach also has an 11-3 record this season at the twos, with Tineke Hinton and Demi Wagdy going 8-2 on the year while Kiara Edwards and Savannah Standage went 3-1 in that spot last weekend at the Stanford Invitational.
That pair also has a winning record in the third flight, while Long Beach State's Mahala Esser and Victoria Henkel are now 5-2 in the fourth flight this season.
Fans are encouraged to attend the free event, and scoring updates for every match throughout the weekend will be found at beachlivestats.statbroadcast.com.
