LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach State hosts LMU on Tuesday night at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field, continuing a four-game homestand after securing its first Big West series win of the 2026 season over Hawai'i. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. as the Dirtbags look to carry momentum from back-to-back conference victories into the midweek matchup before returning to Big West play this weekend on the road against Cal State Bakersfield.
LEADING OFF
• The 72nd season of Long Beach State baseball continues Tuesday night as the Dirtbags host the LMU Lions in a midweek matchup at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. as Long Beach State looks to build off its first Big West series victory of the season.
• Following the midweek contest, Long Beach State hits the road to resume Big West play with a three-game weekend series against California State University, Bakersfield beginning Friday.
• The Dirtbags drew nearly 2,500 fans for Friday's conference home opener against University of Hawai'i at Manoa and welcomed more than 6,100 fans across the four-game homestand last week.
STARTING PITCHERS
• Junior right-hander Jake Fields gets the ball for Long Beach State in Tuesday's midweek matchup after making five appearances and four starts early this season. Fields enters with a 1-3 record and a 6.10 ERA across 20.2 innings, while holding opposing hitters to a conference-best .149 batting average and collecting 19 strikeouts.
• Fields has shown swing-and-miss ability throughout the early season, allowing just 10 hits over his first 20.2 innings pitched. He currently ranks among the Big West leaders in fewest hits allowed and has worked into both weekend and midweek roles for the Dirtbags as one of the staff's most trusted strikeout arms.

Gerfers allowed just four hits and one earned run while striking out seven over 123 pitches, stranding the tying run at third in the ninth inning. The standout performance earned the freshman righty the teams' first Big West Pitcher of the Week award this season.
