Long Beach State improves to 3-4 after sweeping doubles and singles play at Rhodes Tennis Center
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State turned in a dominant performance on Friday at the Rhodes Tennis Center, sweeping Stanton 7-0 to improve to 3-4 on the season.
The Beach established control in doubles play, capturing the point with wins on courts one and three. Cecilia Costa and Paulina Franco set the tone at the top spot with a decisive 6-1 victory, while Pamela Badillo and Thea Jagare delivered a 6-0 shutout at No. 3. After securing the early advantage, LBSU carried that momentum straight into singles.
In singles competition, Long Beach State did not drop a match and won all six courts in straight sets. Diana De Simone led the charge at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win, and Thea Jagare was flawless at No. 2, posting a 6-0, 6-0 result. Costa added a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3, while Daria Malaescu earned a 6-1, 6-3 decision on court four.
Pamela Badillo secured a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Paulina Franco closed out the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 6.
With the doubles point and six straight-set singles victories, the Beach completed a comprehensive 7-0 sweep and moved to 3-4 overall.
