Beach Aim To Rebound With Two Nonconference Matchups At Rhodes Tennis Center
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Beach Tennis returns home this week as Long Beach State prepares to host Stanton on Friday at 2 p.m. before welcoming Santa Clara on Sunday at noon at the Rhodes Tennis Center. The Beach enter the week at 4-2 overall and 1-0 in Big West play, looking to regain momentum on their home courts after a challenging road match last weekend.
Long Beach State returns home focused on tightening up singles play after coming up short in two competitive matches last week. Against LMU, the Beach opened strong by securing the doubles point with decisive play across the top courts, but ultimately fell 4-3 after dropping four tightly contested singles matches. The setback highlighted the team's ability to compete at every position while underscoring the need to close out extended rallies and three set battles.
The week's matches concluded at San Diego State, where the Beach were unable to find their rhythm in a 4-0 loss. Despite the result, the match provided valuable experience against a physical opponent and an opportunity to reset ahead of a two-match homestand.
With a 1-0 mark in conference action and a strong start to the season overall, LBSU will look to capitalize on familiar conditions at the Rhodes Tennis Center. Friday's matchup against Stanton presents an opportunity to sharpen execution and build confidence, while Sunday's contest against Santa Clara offers a competitive nonconference test as the Beach continue to prepare for the heart of Big West play.
