Alejandro De Castro Highlights Day Two At The John A. Burns Intercollegiate

de Castro shot a four-under par 66 to climb into a tie for fifth from Kauai.
LIHUE, Hawaii – Senior Alejandro de Castro shot a four-under par 66 on Friday to climb into the Top 5 after the second round of play at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate from Hawaii. Jack Cantlay, playing as individual, matched that spot on the leaderboard with a 67 as the two are within striking distance of the individual championship to be decided on Saturday.
Second Round Results
Alejandro de Castro Piera had four birdies with no bogeys to rise 27 places on the leaderboard on Friday, leading the way for the lineup, while Jack Cantlay's four birdies with one bogey after an Even par left the pair tied for fifth place overall, three strokes out of the lead currently held by Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh of Loyola Marymount. That helped the Lions hold a share of the lead along with Texas A&M after two rounds.
Junior Krishnav Chopraa had another consistent round to remain in the Top 20, even par for the tournament after a 71 on Friday. Steen Zeman shot a 73 to end the day in a tie for 37th overall, while Jaden Huggins improved with a 72 in the second round to help the Beach end the day in a tie for sixth place overall. Norwin Gohm had the team's drop score, a 79.
As a team, Long Beach State finished the day even, tied with Saint Mary's for 6th place overall but are well within reach of the teams above them, including the leaders.
