Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season At John A. Burns Intercollegiate

After a successful Fall, Men’s Golf brings a Top 50 national ranking into the second half of the year.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Golf will face a competitive field in a beautiful location to start the spring season, competing in the John A. Burns Intercollegiate hosted by Hawai'i at Ocean Course Hokuala in Kauai.
Playing one round each day beginning on Thursday, February 12, No. 42 Long Beach State will take on a 19-team field that features 15 squads that begin the spring ranked in the Top 100. In addition to Long Beach State and the hosts Hawai'i, the field will include BYU, California, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, Miami (OH), Missouri, New Mexico, Saint Mary's, San Diego State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Texas A&M, UNLV, Utah, UTEP, and Washington State.
Head Coach Rob Murray is shaking up the lineup from the fall, and Graduate Steen Zeman will play in the top spot in Kauai. Zeman has two Top 5 finishes already this season, including a runner-up finish at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, and has led the Beach in two of the team's five tournament finishes this season. Zeman is currently ranked in the nation's Top 200 individually.
Junior Krishnav Chopraa will play second. The 2025 Big West Champion has two Top 20 finishes this season and will look to make an immediate impact in the spring. Another junior, Alejandro de Castro, will play third. De Castro also had two Top 5 finishes in the fall and is ranked individually in the Top 250.
Norwin Gohm joins the lineup for his third competition of the season, as the sophomore had his best finish so far this season with a tie for 22nd overall at the Les Fowler Individual in Colorado. Rounding out the lineup is senior Jaden Huggins, who had two Top 5 and two Top 20 finishes in the fall, with a low round of 65 as a highlight.
Senior Jack Cantlay will also make the trip, playing as an individual for the first time this season. Cantlay's best finish in the fall came in New Mexico, where he tied for fourth place at the William Tucker Intercollegiate.
