
Transfer Emma Kang With Share Of Lead After First Day Of Competition For Women’s Golf

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Junior Emma Kang rode a four-under par 68 in the second round, the best score of the day, to a three-way tie for first place in her debut day for Long Beach State at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.
Day One Results
Kang had a spectacular second round with just one bogey and five birdies for a 68 at the University of New Mexico Championship course. That came on the heels of a first-round 71 which tied the Idaho transfer with Foog Zi Yu of UNLV and Ella Kraft of Sacramento state atop the individual leaderboard.
Senior Madison Le also had a strong day for Long Beach State finishing the day tied for 14th after a first round 72 and a second round 74 after finishing her day with a birdie. Long Beach State's other Division I transfer, Alyson Sor, closed the day tied for 34th place at six-over par with back-to-back rounds of 75.
Junior Erin Lee rebounded from a difficult first round with a 73 in the second, climbing 30 places in the second round to finish the day at 152, 8-over par. Freshman Chloe Park had the team's drop score in both rounds, and fellow freshman Kailey Yoon competed as an individual, as each closed their first day of Division I competition tied for 72nd overall.
Led by Kraft's score, Sacramento State leads the team competition through two rounds at 1-under par. The Beach currently is in fourth place in the 15-team field at +11.
The final round will be held Tuesday morning, with live coverage through SCOREBOARD at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/239014/scoring/team.
