Sarah Medik is being promoted to lead assistant coach following her playing career and one year on staff.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Interim Head Coach Gertjan De Wilder has announced that he will be elevating Sarah Medik to lead assistant for Long Beach State Women's Tennis this season.
"It's great to have Sarah joining our staff. She knows the team and the program inside out, and she brings valuable experience from competing at the Division I level, both at Southern Miss and Long Beach State," De Wilder said. "As a player, she brought energy, commitment and a team-first mentality that perfectly aligned with our culture. Her passion for college tennis has never faded, and I'm really excited to work alongside her this season."
Medik played for two seasons with Long Beach State after transferring from Southern Miss. Medik played primarily in the top flight for the Beach in her junior season, earning second-team All-Big West honors in singles, and then posted a 20-11 overall record in singles as a senior in 2023-24. Before LBSU, she played three seasons at Southern Miss, where she was named to the C-USA All-Freshman Team.
Medik routinely received academic honors and was a multiple-time Academic All-Conference and ITA All-Academic selection throughout her collegiate career. In 2024, she was named CSC Academic All-District before graduating with a degree in International Business.
Long Beach State Women's Tennis begins the 2025-26 season in October, starting with the Big West Fall Tournament from October 2-5 hosted by UC San Diego in La Jolla.
