Long Beach State Track & Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The Long Beach State men's and women's track and field teams were awarded academic honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Both Beach programs were recognized as NCAA Division I All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA. This marks the 29th time the Long Beach State women's team has earned the team academic honor. LBSU's women's team as well as its cross country team has received award every year since it was started in 1996.

The LBSU men's track program received the recognition for the ninth time to go along with six honors that the men's cross country team has earned. This continues to build on the academic momentum that the program has been building as both track and field and both cross country teams have been awarded NCAA APR Recognition for the 1000 scores.

NCAA Division I All-Academic Team Criteria:

To be named an All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following standards:

The cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for indoor and/or outdoor track and field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. This must be certified by either the NCAA Faculty Representative, NCAA Compliance Coordinator, or the Registrar's Office.
The cumulative GPA is computed using this method:
- a. Total the cumulative number of semester or quarter hours earned by all student-athletes on the NCAA Squad List, including the most recent grading period.
- b. Total the cumulative number of quality points earned by all student-athletes, including the most recent grading period.
- c. Divide the cumulative number of quality points by the cumulative number of hours earned.
Institutions using a scale other than 4.0 must convert GPAs using the formula: [GPA / Scale] × 4.0.

NCAA Division I All-Academic Athlete Criteria:

Student-athletes must meet all of the following:

Cumulative GPA: 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, certified by the NCAA Faculty Rep, Compliance Coordinator, or Registrar.
Institutions with a different GPA scale must convert to a 4.0 scale using the standard method: [GPA / Scale] × 4.0.
Athletic criteria must be met in either the indoor or outdoor season:
- Indoor: Ranked in the top 96 in a championship individual event, or top 48 in a championship relay event, as listed on the final TFRRS indoor performance lists (including qualifying out-of-season performances).
- Outdoor: Participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (Preliminary or Final), or ranked in the top 48 in the East or West on the final NCAA Division I TFRRS outdoor descending order list.
Must have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the certifying institution.
