Shiff Wins Men's 400m Hurdles
LONG BEACH, Calif.— Sofia Lavreshina broke a 29-year-old school record in the 400m hurdles while Omri Shiff took home the men's 400m title to highlight Long Beach State action on the final day of the 29th Beach Invitational Saturday at Jack Rose Track.
WOMEN
Lavreshina won the 400m hurdles in 56.64, defeating second-place Neya Jamison by nearly two seconds. Le'Gretta Hinds held the previous school record of 57.53, which was set during the 1996 season. The time is a new meet record and places her in the top 20 in Division I this season.
Rahni Turner finished second in the 100m hurdles. Turner went 13.18, which would have been a new school record, but the wind was .1 above the allowable wind limit, which would have made the mark the new record.
