Beach runners post four career-best times Friday

AZUSA, Calif.—Long Beach State's distance runners completed action on Friday night's final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Stadium.

Jadyn Palaschuk and Mackenzie Hack ran in the women's open B 1500m race. Palaschuk recorded a career-best time of 4:37.65. She finished fourth in the seventh heat. Hack ran in heat nine, finishing second in a career-best 4:35.72. Both lowered their career bests in the 1500m by at least two seconds.179 entries took time, with Hack finishing 30th and Palaschuk 57th.

Jay Brown and Cameron Gill competed in the men's open B 1500m. A fifth-year senior, Brown charted a career-best 3:51.98 in the fourth heat. Running in heat nine, Gill broke 3:50 for the first time in the 1500m, running 3:49.62. Gill placed 24th in the field of 137. Brown came in 58th.

Levi Taylor and Cristian Martinez ran in the final race of the Bryan Clay Invitational, the men's Open A 1500m. Taylor competed in the second of 10 heats, running a season-best 3:49.03. Martinez ran the fifth heat, going 3:54.89. 124 runners posted a time. Taylor finished 46th, while Martinez was 89th.

The Beach Invitational concludes on Saturday. The field events begin at 10 a.m., and the running events start at 10:15 a.m.
