Hack Lowers Personal Best In Steeplechase At Bryan Clay Invitational

Hack's time is the sixth fastest in school history

AZUSA, Calif.—Mackenzie Hack lowered her best in the 3000m steeplechase by over seven seconds at the Bryan Clay Invitational Wednesday night.

Hack ran 10:50.31 in the first heat of the steeplechase, finishing seventh. Her previous best was on Apr. 4, when she won the steeplechase at the Battle of the Beach. Her performance keeps her sixth in school history in the steeplechase.

Hack finished 65th in the field of 98. Raygan Peterson of BYU won the race (10:12.92).

UP NEXT
This busiest home week of the Long Beach State track and field season gets underway on Thursday when LBSU hosts the Pacific Coast Invitational. 57 teams, making up 1,815 entries from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, the NAIA, and Canada, are currently entered. The PCI begins with the throwing events at 8 a.m. The jumps get going at 9:30 a.m. The running events start at 11:15 a.m.

The Beach continues at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday as well. Mario Tavares is entered in the men's open 5000m, which begins at 7 a.m. on Thursday, while Marikay Schwab will run in the women's open 5000m, which starts at 8:05 a.m. Both races are a part of The Breakfast with Beynon program. 

Leia Jones has been selected for the women's 800m invite, which begins at 3:50 p.m. on Thursday.

Cristian Martinez, Kyle Reden, and Cameron Rhone are entered in the men's 800m invite on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
