Distance On Display At Bryan Clay Invitational For LBSU

The Beach entered runners in the 800m and 5000m on Thursday

AZUSA, Calif.—Long Beach State's distance runners were displayed on day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Stadium.
 
Mario Tavares finished 71st in a field of 113 runners in the 5000m, running 14:52.98. It was Tavares' debut in the event this outdoor season.
 
Marikay Schwab competed in her first 5000m of the season, running 17:29.32 to place 69th out of 115 competitors.
 
Kyle Reden and Cameron Rhone competed in the men's 800m invite. Reden recorded a season-best 1:50.38 to place third in the 13th heat. Rhone's 1:53.11 gave him fifth in the 18th heat. In the 144-man field, Reden came in 52nd, with Rhone finishing 121st.
 
UP NEXT
The Beach will return the distance crew to the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday. Jadyn Palaschuk and Mackenzie Hack will run in the women's 1500m Open B.  Jay Brown, and Cameron Gill is running the men's 1500m Open B.
 
Leia Jones enters the women's 1500m Open A while Levi Taylor and Cristian Martinez run the men's 1500m Open A. The women's 1500m open B begins at 5 p.m. The men's 1500m open B starts at 6 p.m. The women's 1500m Open A begins at 9:15 p.m., with the Men's A beginning at 10:15 p.m.
