
Beach Volleyball Loses Final Match At Death Volley Invitational To No. 7 Florida State

Long Beach State played four games in twenty-four hours over the two-day tournament.
BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 9 Long Beach State played their fourth and final match Saturday at the Death Volley Invitational hosted by LSU, falling 3-1 to No. 7 Florida State.
Megan Widener and Demi Wagdy, competing in the fifth flight, finished the weekend 3-1 overall after getting a point for Long Beach State (15-9) against Florida State (19-5). After taking the first set 21-16, Jordan Boulware and Kenzie Hultquist of Florida State were unable to continue, giving the Beach a 1-0 lead in the final match of the weekend.
The Seminoles would recover to take the win. Cara Sassack and Bailey Higgins were 21-17, 21-16 winners to even the score, and Natalie Glenn and Savanna Standage fell in the second flight as Florida State took a 2-1 lead.
The other two matches were very close, with Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah falling 22-20, 21-14 to Audrey Koenig and Alexis Durish in the top flight to clinch the match for the Seminoles. Tineke Hinton and Mahala Esser lost a close 25-23 first set in the fourth flight, and their match went unfinished.
The Beach will be back in action at the Best in the West tournament in Laguna Beach next weekend.
