Long Beach State Track & Field Wins Six Times At USC

The Beach wrapped up competition at the Oregon Preview Saturday
LOS ANGELES—The Long Beach State men's and women's track and field teams won six times Saturday as USC's Ron & Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational ended.
WOMEN
Rahni Turner won the 100m hurdles in a season-best time of 13.30.
Junior Leia Jones took home her first outdoor 800m title as she won the race in a time of 2:09.48. Her performance is the fifth-quickest in school history.
Jadyn Palaschuk was the 3000m winner after going 10.23.43. Mackenzie Hack made it a 1-2 finish for the Beach as her 10:35.13 resulted in second for Long Beach State.
Claudine Raud-Gumiel posted the ninth-best long jump in school history, 19-9 1/2, to finish fifth in the event.
WOMEN'S TOP PERFORMANCES (*Career-Best)
MEN
Jaylon Wells won the shot put with a career-best throw of 60-4. His mark came on his second attempt and outdistanced the runner-up, USC's Caden Garland, by nearly four inches. Wells' toss is the fifth-best in school history.
Levi Taylor ran the sixth-fastest 3000m time in school history, 8:31.14, to win the event.
The 4x400m relay of Patrick Henderson, Mikey Holland, Ryan Rivituso, and Anthony Coleman won the race in a time of 3:20.81.
The second LBSU 4x400m relay was comprised of Kyle Reden, Cameron Rhone, Cristian Martinez, and Brandon Day. The quartet were the runners-up, going 3:24.49.
Martinez finished second in the 800m, running 1:51.57. Cytres Vives tied for second in the high jump (6-2 3/4) with Ezra Freech of USC.
MEN'S TOP PERFORMANCES (*Career-Best)
EUGENE, Ore.—The Long Beach State women's track and field team competed action on Saturday at the Oregon Preview at Hayward Field.
In the pole vault, Jonelle Scott placed fourth (12-2 3/4), while Grace Stoddart came in sixth (11-9).
Tori Plummer finished eighth in the 100m hurdles (15.19).
Kendra Daniels (25.78) and Plummer (27.63) ran the 200m. Daniels was second in her heat, placing 11th overall. Plummer was 32nd.
KiiKii Brown was Long Beach State's top finisher in the long jump as she went 18-5 1/4 to finish fifth.
Riley Millard went 17-8 1/4 on her final attempt of the preliminaries to advance to the finals. She extended her best of the day to 18-0 1/2 during her final jump to earn sixth place.
Plummer's third event of the day was the long jump. She recorded a best leap of 16-8 to register an 11th-place showing. Daniels also entered the long jump, where she came in 12th (16-7).
Glen Quayle and Cyprus Rice were the lone men's entries for Long Beach State as both competed in the pole vault. Both failed to clear a height and did not place.
